SUPPORT AFGHANISTAN YOUTH
YOUTH EDUCATIONAL SUPPLIES
Major Bryan Martyn, Gold Canyon resident and community leader, is currently serving a tour of duty in Afghanistan. He witnessed first-hand, the needs of the school community there and wondered how Gold Canyon could help. These children, regardless of nationality, deserve a brighter future. They are at an impressionable age, making any act of kindness a lasting memory. Pat Prince, another committed community leader responded.
She is taking charge of a community effort to gather monetary donations, backpacks, school supplies and warm clothing for students 7-15 years of age for these children.
A fund-raising chili cook-off will be sponsored by Mike Farber and Lori Hlavin-Firehouse Bar & Grill on Saturday, 11/10/07, as well as designated "Drop-Off Days" for donations. Keep watching for dates and places.
Most of all, Pat needs volunteers to make this an extreme success. She can be reached at 480-671-4847 or patprince6064@msn.com
Although we support many community and Arizona children's activities, this is a special attempt at helping children understand that needs are universal. Our first priority is home, but there's always room to go outside our borders for a special need. Please show Major Martyn and his family your support and thanks by being involved.
