August Mixer August Mixer

Thanks to Goin’ Postal and Spilled Beans Espresso, the Gold Canyon Business Association’s August Mixer, August 26th, was another stellar success. Forty-five members and guests filled the Spilled Beans Espresso shop on Kings Ranch Road to share stories, exchange business ideas and enjoy the spread provided by the two hosts. The meal of delicious sandwiches and chips was topped off with Blue Bell ice cream, now being offered at Spilled Beans.

The GCBA was delighted to have the new Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, Chief Deputy, Jeff Kirkham join the group, exchanging introductions. He previously served as deputy sheriff in the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, so is experienced in county, as well as his recent extensive local law enforcement background. We welcome him to the county and Gold Canyon and look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship in our community.

Please mark your calendar for the next GCBA meeting, September 23rd, where we will hear more from Chief Deputy, Jeff Kirkham and Marta St. James on “Security and Safety for Business Owners” through the Gold Canyon Business Watch Program.

The Comprehensive Plan for Pinal County is the Policy Document for Land Planning in Pinal County. It encompasses the vision of a Magatropolis in the “Sun Corridor” beginning in Prescott and going all the way to Sierra Vista. It is estimated that by the year 2040 ten million people will live in this corridor.

To start this project they had 3,000 people actively participate in the initial planning process and the following were determined to be the key areas of concern:

Quality of Life and Wild Life Habitat
• SENSE OF COMMUNITY
Maintain the unique identity of each area
• QUALITY EDUCATION
Focus on education pre-school thru grade 12 and on opportunities for higher education
